This course in oral pathology will focus on a variety of clinical entities that affect the oral mucosal tissues. Emphasis will be given to those conditions most commonly encountered including lichen planus. However, the scope of the course will be broad with mention of some uncommon lesions when appropriate, so as to refresh the diagnostic skills of the participant. The common vesiculo-erosive blistering diseases will be presented focusing on the periodontal manifestations of these conditions. Illustrative cases will be presented and used to aid and enhance the formulation of a differential diagnosis of lesions. Current management and treatment regimens will be discussed.
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

Recognize the clinical manifestations of oral mucosal disease and be
knowledgeable about the epidemiology of the diseases
· Be able to form a differential diagnosis of blistering diseases of the oral soft tissues
