Overview: As research continues to uncover understandings around chronic diseases, it has become increasingly imperative that the dental professional understand their role and responsibility in prevention and implementation. The art and science of dental hygiene delivers murky waters for understanding clear and concise decision-making processes for management of periodontitis. As such, providers and patients alike struggle with understanding when to "pull the trigger" so to speak in activating periodontal therapy. Katrina Sanders RDH, M.Ed delivers a charismatic discussion about understanding the role that risk assessment plays in employing strategies for implementing active therapy.
2018 AAP Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases Mindfully Staging our Patients
2.00
Overview:
The updated AAP classification system created in 2017 represents a multi-dimensional staging and grading framework for periodontitis and implant disease status. This course will examine the process of staging patients by CAL, radiographic interpretation and complexity of case management.
The need for calibration and clinician alignment will be discussed specifically regarding the staging process. The value of utilizing verbatims as an effective communication tool with our patients, colleagues, and medical professionals will be discussed.
Overview: Now that we have a clearer understanding of the updated AAP Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases, we will hear from our sponsors about the tools that they can provide to assist our assessments.
